Genevieve is 16 today.
Last weekend, she invited 4 friends to eat some Chinese takeout, play pool, watch a movie and do a sleepover.
But we had a surprise for her, too.
A 16th birthday is a remarkable milestone and we wanted this birthday to be a special memory for her. As she grows up, we want her to know, at her core, that her generation has a powerful voice and so many gifts to offer--gifts that will put a mark on this city and on the world.
There's a lot I could share about how proud I am of my Genevieve and of the person she's becoming, but I'm going to leave it here today.
